Can we get an update on version 3 - specifically a timeline if possible - when it will be available for testing, and when will be available to go live? I know the dates might be subject to change, but it would help in planning here to have a rough guide.
Thanks for checking – we’re gearing up and excited for LiveWhale 3.0!
We’ve slightly extended our original internal development timeline (i.e., the one I talked about in February), but are still on track for a fall release. At the moment we’re hoping to release to dev servers early September and allow the earliest production upgrades mid-October (i.e., at minimum 6 weeks of testing where we can catch bugs on dev servers). Our expectation is that for many folks their 2.x to 3.0+ upgrades will happen into the 2025–26 school year, or Summer 2026 at the latest. We’ll announce a 2.x end of life schedule when we publish the official release.
We want to give folks plenty of time for testing since this major version release would include changes that might break backward compatibility with it’s release (Versions and Upgrades - LiveWhale Support).
There also may be a chance that we open components of 3.0 to beta testing for heavy LiveWhale users like yourself and in that case we’ll be reaching out to those folks for feedback when that time approaches.
