Sidearm – Using API for LiveWhale Content

Hello all,

I’ve been granted access to our Sidearm athletics site to try and set up Analytics. While looking around, I noticed the documentation for the Sidearm API. I imagine there’s plenty that can be done with this information.

My question: has anyone made use of this API for their institutional site(s)? If so, what do you use it for?

Thanks,
Nick

I’m pretty sure almost everyone I’m aware of (feel free to pipe up if I’m mistaken, folks!) just uses the SideARM iCal feeds that they publish out-of-the-box. That’s covered the info that we’ve mostly seen people wanting to display on their college calendars, but maybe there’s more info available via the API if you wanted?

We just use the iCal feeds like Karl mentioned.

Hi @mischlern!

As part of some changes to how we’re managing 3rd party integrations in LW 3.0, I’m trying to get some information about the Sidearm API — in particular, whether there are in fact additional data fields that aren’t in the ICAL feed that you could pull in via the API.

But I don’t see any API documentation online, and googling it suggests that they don’t have publicly available docs; the link you sent back in April in this thread is login-only.

Is there any chance you could hook us up with some of that documentation? Perhaps if there’s some long page you could PDF and send over?

If not, no big deal of course. Hope you and yours are enjoying the holiday season so far!

Jason

Assuming the documentation was visible, I think there were options to pull out more than just schedules/events, but also results, rosters, stories, staff profiles, etc. We do pull events through iCal, but there’s more potential here I think.

I’ll see if I can get back in and figure out what I can.

Thanks,
Nick
