Is it possible (currently) to have an event that’s suppressed from the main calendar, be displayed in a widget?
Here’s the background:
Our Intranet team has events that they do not want to be displayed publicly but still need to be displayed on our Intranet’s website for staff/faculty/etc. They (and us!) would like to use Livewhale’s events and widgets but I’m currently running into a roadblock.
If an event is added to a group but the event type is set to “Suppress From Main Calendar”, then the event will not show up in the widgets, even if I set up the widget to only display events with that event type.
Is there a way to allow the widgets to display these events? Or is there, maybe, another privacy option that could be added that would allow an event to be “private” where it’s not publicly listed on the Events Calendar, but can still be displayed through a widget configuration?
Definitely! If your main calendar has exclude_category=Suppress From Main Calendar in the settings, you should just be able to make a widget that includes that category. (By default, widgets show all upcoming events, so probably “not excluding” that category would be enough.)
Hmm, it seems like that’s not happening, though. Maybe check out the widget settings—is it possible there’s some exclude_category being brought in from a default widget template or similar? There must be some context we’re missing here, let me know if you can find any to share, otherwise feel free to Request Help if you’d like our team to go hands-on with your installation and config/theming files to see if there might be some customization at play.
