We have a page named “18 Under 40” (18 Under 40 • Southwestern University). Using search, either on the front end or the back end, searching for 18 or under or 40 returns many results, including the page in question, but searching for any combination of two or more of these terms returns no results. So a search for 18 under 40 finds no pages, and the content owner is concerned.
I figured out that capitalization matters. Words like ‘under’ (prepositions), if they are lowercase, seem to be discarded by search in some situations. And the two-digit numbers seem to cause problems, too. So just an unlucky name for an event (it’s 18 high-achieving alumni who are under 40 years old).
I added a check for searches containing ‘18 under’ or ‘under 40’, and now change the input to ‘18 Under 40’ in those cases.
