LiveWhale Calendar to Outlook

We have had an interesting request from our president’s office. They maintain an Outlook calendar of select campus events. They were wondering if there was a way to get an invite to new events added in LiveWhale that they could accept or decline onto that Outlook calendar.

The key requirements seem to be:

  1. Be notified when a new event is added in LiveWhale calendar
  2. Be able to easily add that to her shared calendar in Outlook

Obviously, there is no out-of-the-box way to do this. Has anyone else gotten similar requests? Can anyone think of any clever ways to accomplish such a thing?

I don’t know of anyone doing exactly this (please chime in if you are, folks!) but an event “invitation” these days is really just an email with an attached .ics file, right?

I wonder if a custom solution would be a script saying “Any time a new event gets added to [JSON results from LWC], take new event IDs we haven’t seen before, grab the results of /live/ical/events/id/1234 for each, and then email them to presidents office calendar manager.” Hope this might help!
