We’re hearing from publishers that users who RSVP for an event cannot cancel the registration. For example, I registered for this event and got a confirmation email:
Thanks for bringing this up and sorry to hear about the trouble with this. While we weren’t able to replicate this behavior on our test servers, a suggestion would be to check in the dashboard to see if the RSVP is already canceled to start given the message context.
We have seen instances where some email spam/phishing filters will erroneously cancel registrations before the human can even click it.
If that doesn’t happen to lead anywhere we can check out your particular instance or review logs in detail via the Request Help form.
I know this is a month old now but, we’ve also had our users report this issue recently. I tried creating a test event and registered with both an institutional account (my UCalgary email address) and a Gmail account. Both showed up on the Manage Event Registrations page and when I cancelled their registrations through the link in the email, my UCalgary address got the error and the Gmail one did not.
Is this just a result of our institutional email filters? If so, is there anything that we can even do?
Hi Matt. I just tested your hypothesis (UConn email vs. Gmail) and had the same outcome. There definitely seems to be something to that. Thank you for the idea. I emailed LW Support/Karl back with this info. Hoping they can determine what’s going on.
I tried registering a second time with my UConn email, since I’m getting the message that there is no registration found. I received a message saying “A registration has already been received from that email address. Only one registration per email is allowed.”
However, when I check the RSVPs for the event, it says there are 0 registered.
Thanks folks! We’ve heard a number of variations of similar issues recently with RSVP links getting cancelled by mistake, by email scanners/adblocks, and also that the current error messaging for users is unnecessarily confusing. We’re running with that feedback internally and have plans to improve/nuance the RSVP cancellation functions in our next release to make this better. Apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime, and we look forward to having an improved RSVP cancellation workflow to you as soon as possible! Thanks,
