Custom URL in blog post removes navigation menu

I found an interesting thing this afternoon when a faculty member started a new blog and changed a post’s URL via the “Custom URL” tool. It prevents the navigation menu and the breadcrumbs from displaying correctly.

Example: Working Toward Common Ground With Those Who Work the Land • Lewis & Clark

Hi Morgan,

Huh, that’s an odd one!

When I test on our server, I’m not able to reproduce this – editing the URL of a blog post doesn’t affect the values of the default group_title or breadcrumbs XPHP variable. I might suggest taking a look at the breadcrumb/navigation .html includes in your theme for that blog details template, and seeing if they have any custom logic in them? Or, feel free to reach out via Request Help or Personalized Email Support if you’d like our help checking it out.

Thanks,
Karl
